“There is no way the food could have been any better. This was some of the best food I’ve ever eaten!”

Forage and cook with our chef: an exclusive experience.
When he’s not in the kitchen, you’ll find Mark foraging the forest, hand picking produce or scouring the local markets for the best catch of the day.
The best part? You can join in, too with our Wine & Cuisine Package. Collect, fish or hunt your food with us, and then join Mark in the kitchen (or the fire) to create a truly special dish.
“I can’t even begin to explain the food. Chef Mark knocks every meal out of the park and fits the meals to your desire.”

Meet our private chef, Mark
Award-winning, talented and humble…so we’ll have to do the bragging for him.
Originally from the Philippines, our executive chef Mark Diu fell in love with foraging, wildlife and hunting when he moved to NZ in 2006. He’s now renowned for his expertise showcasing hand-foraged, locally grown and seasonal NZ produce.
Mark delivers a truly 5 star culinary experience, and time and again wows our guests with his creativity, texture and flavours. He’s a regular feature in our guest book, with so many telling us the food was an unexpected highlight of their stay.

Wine matching
If you’re into wine (who isn’t), our executive chef will show off the complex connection between food and wine with a curated wine pairing menu. Ask at the time of booking, and he’ll get planning.
Chef’s kiss? We think so.
